“Got telephones for eyes” – Mercury Rev
Inspired by this lyric from the Mercury Rev song ‘Holes’, I was drawn to create this image of a man with tentacles for eyes. I know, not-quite-the-same right, but hear me out!
Since the introduction of the smart phone I feel like we’re being trapped by our mobile phones, trapped by our tentacles for eyes. Eyes that constantly latch onto something, distracted and moving us down a strange and unexpected path.
Tentacles that are a little beyond our grasp or control. Tentacles that slightly depress us, slightly annoy us but can’t stop reaching for more.
