A simple way to understand what’s happening on your website
When psyborg® completes a new WordPress website, one of the important behind-the-scenes tools we can help connect is Google Analytics.
Google Analytics is a free website measurement platform from Google. It collects data from your website and turns it into reports that can provide useful insights into your business. (Google Help)
In simple terms, it helps you understand how people find your website, what pages they visit and how they interact with your content.
Why Google Analytics is useful for your WordPress website
Your website shouldn’t just look good. It should also give you clues about what’s working.
Google Analytics can help you see:
| Insight | Why It Matters |
| How many people visit your website | Helps you understand overall visibility |
| Where visitors come from | Shows whether people find you through Google, social media, direct visits or referrals |
| Which pages people view | Helps identify your most useful content |
| How people engage | Gives clues about whether your website is holding attention |
| What could be improved | Supports future SEO, marketing and content decisions |
Google Analytics reports can help you monitor traffic, investigate data and better understand users and their activity. (Google Help)
We help connect it for you
As part of a website build, psyborg® can help connect your WordPress website to Google Analytics.
To complete this, we’ll need access to your Google account during setup. This allows us to create or connect your Google Analytics account, link it to your website and confirm that data is being collected correctly.
For many clients, the easiest option is to provide temporary login access while we complete the connection. If Google sends a verification code to your phone, we may ask you to share that code with us while the setup is being completed.
Once finished, your Google Analytics account remains under your control. You can also update your password or review your Google Account security settings after setup for peace of mind.
How it connects to WordPress
For WordPress websites, Google Analytics is usually connected using a website tag, plugin or approved integration. Google’s setup process involves creating an Analytics property, adding a data stream and adding the Google Analytics code to the website. (Google Help)
Google also provides Site Kit, its official WordPress plugin. Site Kit can connect Google services to a WordPress website and show insights about how people find and use the site. (Site Kit by Google)
The goal is simple: connect the website properly so data can begin collecting in the background.
Why this matters later
You don’t need to become a data expert straight away.
At first, Google Analytics simply gives your website a foundation for measurement. Over time, it can help answer better questions, such as:
| Question | What it can help reveal |
| Are more people visiting the site? | Traffic trends over time |
| Which pages are getting attention? | Popular pages and content |
| Is Google Search sending visitors? | Organic search traffic |
| Are visitors engaging? | Engagement and behaviour signals |
| Should we invest in SEO? | Areas of opportunity and improvement |
This becomes especially useful if you later decide to invest in SEO, content marketing, Google Ads or conversion improvements.
A useful first step, not another job
Google Analytics doesn’t mean you need to check reports every day.
It simply means your website is ready to collect useful information from the start. That way, when you’re ready to improve your SEO, refine your content or better understand your audience, the data is already there.
For most clients, the goal is simple:
Launch the website. Connect the analytics. Let the data build quietly in the background.
Then, when the time is right, you can use that insight to make smarter decisions.
Design with intent.
Creativity, fuelled by logic.
