AI, Branding & Banter at Business Hunter – Event Recap from McDonald Jones Stadium

AI, Branding & Banter at Business Hunter

Today I had the privilege of presenting at Business Hunter’s biggest-ever Business in Focus event, held at the stunning McDonald Jones Stadium. The room was packed with local business leaders, innovators, and curious minds ready to explore what AI means for their businesses today.

I was invited to speak on the intersection of artificial intelligence and branding — specifically how your brand, your website, and your style guide can now be trained into AI tools like ChatGPT, CoPilot, Claude or even visual tools like DALL·E, to produce marketing content that is both strategic and scalable. The core message? Your brand just became your most powerful AI tool.

A Presentation with Personality

The talk came from a very real place: I opened with stories from my recent family trip around the world, showing how AI is already embedded into everyday life — from AI-powered signage in Paris to autonomous vehicles in LA. There were a few flat spots I’ll own, and I didn’t manage to weave in my Chatto voice demo as planned, but the audience energy and the Q&A brought everything to life.

The Q&A in particular was a highlight. It was lively, honest and showed real engagement from the business community. I had people introducing themselves to me afterwards, asking questions, and even quoting some of the session’s key lines back to me — none more popular than this one:

“You may not be replaced by AI, but you will certainly be replaced by someone using AI better than you.”

Not only did it get a few nods in the room, but it’s also doing the rounds on LinkedIn now — always a good sign that something landed.

Business Hunter Wrap-Up

Business Hunter summed it up best:

“Packed house. Powerful insights. Practical takeaways.”

With expert insights from myself and Brent O’Toole from Microsoft, the event made it clear that AI is no longer just a future trend — it’s a practical tool shaping smarter, more efficient businesses today.

Key takeaways:

  • AI learns like a trainee – the more you guide it, the better it performs.
  • Context is king – “garbage in, garbage out.” AI is only as good as your input.
  • Human-led, AI-enhanced – AI supports, not replaces, authentic interaction.
  • Autonomous services are here – from cars to content tools.
  • AI empowers decision-making – turning vague problems into clear action.

Slide Overview

For those who want to revisit the key ideas visually, here’s a quick breakdown of the slides featured during the talk:

Slide 8: Mostly Human – AI enables more real human connection. AI helps me spend more time being human. Talking to clients. Being creative. Solving problems.

Slide 9: Brand Talks Back – Concept of training AI to sound like your brand. Branding isn’t a logo — it’s that feeling of knowing something. Familiarity creates trust.

Gratitude & Acknowledgements

A big thank you to:

  • Alex Brennan from Business Hunter for the invitation to present — and the trust to do it my way.
  • Ellie Bright from Business Hunter for the seamless coordination and pre-event organisation. Having a solid behind-the-scenes contact makes all the difference.
  • Glenn Thornton, CEO of Business Hunter, and the Board for their support and vision in driving events like this for the business community.
  • Brent O’Toole from Microsoft, who brought the technical and future-forward perspective to the table. Our sessions balanced each other out well — brand + build, now + next.

Looking Ahead

The response from this event reminded me why I do what I do. At psyborg®, we help brands evolve, communicate, and now — integrate AI in a way that enhances their voice, not replaces it.

This event was a perfect intersection of strategy, creativity, humour, and real-world utility.

To everyone who came up to chat, connect, or ask questions — thank you. Let’s keep the conversation going.

Thanks to Josh Stephenson from Ready Aim Media and Andrew J Monger from AJM for the photography.
