What is your Elevator Pitch?

What is your Elevator Pitch

What is an Elevator Pitch?

An elevator pitch is a simple persuasive statement that you would use to spark someones interest in your business.

It’s purpose is to tell someone quickly, easily and confidently what problem you solve whilst explaining why you do it.

It needs to be an accurate sales pitch used to engage your audience quickly, hence the term ‘elevator’.

Why should you have an Elevator Pitch?

An elevator pitch is a powerful tool to help you articulate your brands direction and can also be used to inspire your business name.

An elevator pitch is important and necessary for businesses as it is a way to draw in clients and customers. It gives out information about your business quickly and easily and may be the difference between getting a new client or them moving onto the next business.

Once an elevator pitch has been determined it can be used in written form but also used by staff as a means to keep a consistent statement that positively sums up a business. An elevator pitch shouldn’t be to long or people may lose interest, it actually shouldn’t take longer to read then a ride in an elevator!

How do you Create an Elevator Pitch?

An elevator pitch is not solely about what it is that you do but rather what problem you are solving and/or what is in it for the audience (what are the benefits that are given to the purchaser or client). A strong elevator pitch should relate more to the why you do something rather than what you do.

For example, at psyborg® our current elevator pitch is;

At psyborg® we are part mind, part machine. We love to help business thrive and grow through creativity and design thinking.

In formulating your elevator pitch, when we get it right, it can inspire the direction for the business as it supports all decision making as otherwise you can be flying blind.

An elevator pitch should be brief, to the point and be a positive and persuasive pitch. It should describe in a short statement what you do and what is in it for the client (why you do it). It should also be authentic and ideally it should spark an engaging conversation!

To Sum Up

An elevator pitch is a necessary statement that all business should create. It is a way to accurately and quickly describe why people should use your business over a competitor. You will know when you nail your elevator pitch as this statement will inspire further dialogue, questioning and collaboration taking you from the elevator and onto the top floor.
