psyborg® has won Excellence in Micro Business at the 2026 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards … marking our fourth win in this category.
It’s a moment we’re incredibly proud of.
Not because awards are the goal, but because recognition like this gives us a chance to pause, reflect and appreciate the work, people, clients and community that have shaped psyborg® over the past 20 years.
Founded by Daniel Borg in 2006, psyborg® has grown from a design studio focused on branding, websites and digital marketing into an AI-enabled creative, education and business systems company based in Caves Beach, Lake Macquarie. Our work now spans brand strategy, logo design, website design and development, SEO-focused content, social media, video production, merchandise, AI education, AI Brand Engine services and AI Business Optimisation.
At the core of it all is the same idea we’ve carried from the beginning:
part mind | part machine.
Human insight. Creative judgement. Strategic thinking. Digital systems. Practical execution.
That mix has always shaped how we work.
Proven. Trusted. Evolved.
This fourth win recognises a business that has continued to evolve with intent.
psyborg® has now delivered more than 3,800 projects, worked with more than 445 clients and recorded 31,737 design hours across two decades of creative work.
Behind those numbers are thousands of conversations, ideas, sketches, briefs, brand workshops, websites, proposals, campaigns, deadlines and decisions.
That history matters because it has given psyborg® something deeper than experience alone. It has given us pattern recognition.
We’ve seen what helps businesses grow. We’ve seen what causes confusion. We’ve seen how branding can sharpen confidence, how websites can open opportunity and how clear communication can change the way people understand a business.
Why This Win Matters
This award reflects more than design output.
It recognises the way psyborg® has been reshaping itself for the future.
Over the past 12 months, our focus has been clear:
- improve business efficiency
- expand AI-led services
- deepen community impact
That focus has helped us continue to grow without simply adding more hours. Our 2026 award application highlighted strong revenue growth over recent years, alongside a reduction in founder hours. This reflects a more efficient, systemised and sustainable business model, where improved workflows, AI adoption and clearer processes are helping psyborg® create greater value without simply increasing workload.
That’s an important shift.
It shows that the business is not only growing … it’s becoming more efficient, more systemised and more sustainable.
The AI Evolution
A major part of psyborg®’s recent evolution has been our work in AI.
We don’t see AI as a shortcut to creativity. We see it as a tool for sharper thinking, better systems and clearer business communication.
Over the past year, psyborg® has delivered AI workshops and presentations for Business Hunter, NSW Government, HCAA and the Wagga Wagga AI Masterclass for Small Business Month 2025. These sessions have helped businesses and organisations understand AI in practical, human-centred ways.
We’ve also expanded our AI-enabled services through AI Brand Engine and AI Business Optimisation, helping clients clarify positioning, scale content and improve workflows.
This has become a key part of psyborg®’s future direction.
Not AI for novelty.
AI with purpose.
AI that helps businesses think clearer, work smarter and prepare for real change.
Introducing Cortex
One of the strongest examples of this evolution is Cortex.
Cortex is a new business management system being developed by psyborg® with Claude Cowork. It transforms 20 years of internal systems, spreadsheets, timesheets, analytics and operational statistics into an online application.
The aim is to improve visibility across project performance, quoting, productivity, capacity and business decision-making. It also creates a future opportunity to productise psyborg®’s own business intelligence.
More importantly, Cortex represents the next phase of our “part mind | part machine” philosophy.
It’s not just about using AI to make creative work faster.
It’s about turning experience into intelligence.
It’s about preparing the business for agentic workflows where AI can help trigger, guide and automate parts of the business process, from project setup and task reminders through to performance analysis, reporting and decision support.
Education, Tools and Productised Knowledge
Another important milestone has been the launch of our AI Exploration Intro Guides for Adults, Teens, Kids and Families.
These guides turn our AI education into accessible digital products, helping people build confidence with AI beyond live workshops and presentations.
This is part of a broader shift for psyborg®.
We are still a creative studio. We still build brands, websites and digital content. But we are also becoming an education-led, systems-led and product-led business.
That matters because the market is changing.
Businesses don’t just need better-looking communication. They need clearer strategy, better workflows, smarter tools and stronger confidence in how they adapt.
Local Impact Still Matters
Even as psyborg® grows into AI, strategy and systems, our local foundation remains central.
We are proud to operate from Caves Beach and contribute to the Lake Macquarie economy through client work, skilled employment, community initiatives, youth pathways, sponsorships and local business storytelling.
Through Caves Connect, psyborg® has helped build a grassroots business network that connects local operators, encourages referrals and creates opportunities for collaboration across Caves Beach, Swansea, Lake Macquarie and the wider Hunter region.
One of the strongest examples is Caves Connect Work Experience Connect, developed with Swansea High School. The program helped 117 Year 10 students complete Work Experience Week, supported by around 20 local employers. It delivered 13 new opportunities, including apprenticeships, part-time jobs, further work experience offers and one School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship.
That’s the kind of impact we care about.
Practical. Local. Measurable.
Creativity, Systems and Community
This win also reflects the breadth of work psyborg® now contributes across the region.
We’ve supported local culture and youth enterprise through projects such as Coastal Music Fest, where psyborg® helped young organisers develop event identity across logo design, posters, social assets, T-shirts and a drum kit skin.
We’ve also supported local sponsorships, partnerships and community storytelling, including Swansea Football Club, Lake Macquarie Running Festival and Youth National Surf Battle.
Every brand we shape, website we launch, student we help connect and workshop we deliver contributes to a broader ecosystem.
That’s why this award feels meaningful.
It recognises the work, but also the direction.
Thank You
A huge thank you to Tayla, whose contribution, care and creative work continue to lift the standard of what psyborg® delivers.
Thank you to our clients, who trust us with their brands, websites, strategies, campaigns and ideas.
Thank you to Lake Macquarie City Council, Dantia and the award sponsors, judges and the local business community for continuing to recognise and support businesses across the region.
And thank you to everyone who has been part of the psyborg® story over the past 20 years.
This fourth win is not a finish line.
It’s a marker.
A reminder that good businesses keep adapting. That small businesses can think big. That creative work still matters. And that the future belongs to those willing to keep learning.
psyborg® is still evolving.
part mind | part machine.
